Shock Absorbers

Rancho RS5000

The world's No.1 choice.

The Rancho RS5000 has consistently been the world's best-selling aftermarket, performance 4WD shock absorber. And did not achieve this status by accident.

Extraordinary value.

Available for standard-height and lifted applications, the RS5000 provides exceptional performance for on and off-road use, at a price that makes many other brand look like a, well, "rip-off".

Need some facts? Check out the Rancho RS5000's features below. When comparing to other brands of shocks, ask yourself, "Does XYZ brand have this feature, benefit, or performance?"

We're sure you'll find no other 4WD shock brand can match Rancho's combination of quality, performance, features, and long-term-durability.

Don't forget to read through the FAQ's section of this page. You'll find it very interesting!

Money where our mouth is.

Rancho products purchased from 4WD1 are warranted against manufacturing or operational defects for 3 years from the date of sale, regardless of distance travelled.

Warranty only applies to fitments as specified by RANCHO, or approved by 4WD1. No warranty is provided where the RANCHO product is used in custom applications, radical suspension modifications or where the vehicle is used for competition events of any type.

RANCHO is the off-road shock and suspension division of Tenneco, a $4.4 billion US manufacturing company with 19,000 employees worldwide. 4WD1 was incorporated in 1976 and has been a RANCHO distributor since 1990.

The Rancho RS5000 features:

1. A micro-polished cylinder wall and glass filled Teflon seal: Representing the finest of build-quality which enhances the shock's amazing durability and heat-reduction qualities.

2. Hardened and double-chromed rod and double-welded mounts: Stands up to the job in the toughest rough-road conditions.

3. 10-stage velocity-sensitive valving: A comprehensive valving range which responds appropriately to the changing terrain and results in a safer, and better-controlled ride.

4. Foam-Cell construction: Controls the oil for consistent performance in tough conditions.

5. Double-wall construction: Provides greater off-road protection against rocks, stone spray, logs etc. Unlike mono-tube shocks (Bilstein, De Carbon, some Pro-Comp shocks, etc.) the pistons of the RS5000 and RS9000X shocks do not run in the outer tube. This ensures that the Rancho shocks will be unlikely to fail if the outer tube is dented.

6. 240-hour salt spray-resistant finish: Superior protection. Because you know what salt does to poorly-protected steel.

7. Disc-type piston bleed and coaxial pin and slider base valve: For increased sensitivity to rapid changes in terrain, and for precise compression damping.

8. Softer on compression than rebound damping rate: For superior ride-quality and performance both on and off-road.

One of our most active resellers is in Darwin. They mainly sell the RS5000 Rancho because (they reckon) Territorians don’t want a ride-adjustment knob. They just want to chuck the shocks on and forget them.

In more than three years of fitting RS5000s to a huge variety of 4WDs, including extended wheelbase tourist buses, the reseller has never had a Rancho RS5000 shock back for warranty!

Our reseller in the remote far-north town of Weipa can’t seem to satisfy the demand for Ranchos. Weipa must have a higher ratio of Rancho shocks, per-capita, than any other part of the world. And every road to Weipa is Mother Nature at her worst.

Isn’t it amazing what word-of-mouth, recommendations at the local pub can do?

What makes the Rancho RS5000 so special? You would need to go to the FAQ's section for the full story.

In brief, the RS5000 has consistently been the world’s No.1 seller because of its combination of quality, performance and long-lasting durability.

Backed up by a design that incorporates a double-wall construction, internal bump rubber, ball sized and burnished DOM pressure tube, foam-cell technology, 10-stage velocity sensitive valving and a glass-filled Teflon piston seal.

How much are they? Incredibly, they are just $140 each and Free-delivery*. That makes a lot of the ‘brands’ sold by our ‘competitors’ look like very poor value.
